Chainmail was first worn in the middle ages by knights as protective armor in battle. Since these utilitarian beginnings chainmail or chainmaille has evolved into fashion jewelry and fetish wear for the punk rock, steampunk, gothic and industrial subcultures. Chainmail jewelry is also a stylish accessory for renaissance fairs and SCA reenactments. Various ornate chainmail weaves and ring patterns have come into modern use for fashion jewelry. We here at finechainmailjewelry.com have brought the art of metal weaving stainless steel chainmail necklaces, chokers and bracelets into the modern age.
